Scottie Marie

Chris and I were driving up to San Francisco to try to save our little girl.
The 5 never seemed so lonely or long.
Our phones were buzzing with phone calls or texts of prayers and encouragement
from those that are closest to us.

I feel like it was ages ago, but also as if it was yesterday.
It is so hard to put into words the feelings that I am experiencing today and over the next few days.
Every detail of these days, a year ago come flooding back.
You think you have healed, but pain sneaks back into your heart.
Conversations, smells, food, music...all as if they are happening now.

A year has brought a lot of change for our little family.
Tested our faith, our beliefs, and our relationships.
We have grown.
From such devastation, Chris and I have really grown as people
as a couple
as parents
and in our faith.

Scottie will always live in our hearts
and has changed us forever.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

That is what Nash is into right now.  He loves things that go.  We will be driving on the freeway and he will yell out Truck or Airplane anytime he seems them.  We do not have trains in our part of town, but anytime there is one in a book or on TV he wants to point them out also. Here are some ways you can find Nash playing with them.

He will place them on his tray and then say "Up Please" to play with them

He will join in with others to play with their cars
this time it was Pappi and Michael

Push large toys around the back yard.
Sometimes there will even be little cars in the basket

He will line them up in random spots:
Nana and Pappi's house is on the bookshelves
Noni and Gramps is either the matt upstairs or the window seats downstairs
Our house...oh there are so many places

We play with Trucks and Boats in the pool
And you can be certain that there are cars in the car.
He loves to play in the car when we are waiting for things or people

Laying on the ground.
Kayla says this is his favorite way to play with trucks at school
 His new favorite place,
behind the curtains on the the window sills.
Here he is telling me that there is Daddy's truck
(which is what Nash refers to as any pick up truck)
outside.
This little boy loves his Planes, Trains and Automobiles

My Nash

It has been fun watching you grow and learn new things everyday.

Nasherisms:
the concept of "All Done" has moved outside of just food.
You will empty a bucket of toys and then look at me and say "All Done"
When you are tired of doing something or do not want me to say something you say "All Done"
All the Doors upstairs need to be closed
Cushions on the couch need to be off so your cars can have full range of the couch
Sweeping and helping clean is a favorite of yours
Bottles have stayed in the crib for awhile now and you have determined if you want them,
that you will position them so that you can suck them through your crib slats.
Early in the morning, when you first wake up the first word out of your mouth is,
Ka chow???....like you are looking for him:)
Watching TV you love to put your feet up on the coffee table and back on the couch

Favorite Thing:
Cars are your favorite thing right now
You love the Cars movie
You love any type of hot wheels cars especially if they are the Cars characters
You tend to leave cars in very hidden spots
or play with them in the box that they come in

Shows/Movies:
Cars
Cars 2
Little Einsteins which you call "Pat Pat Pat"
Thomas the Train in your words is Choo Choo"

Dogs:
You are in love with dogs, which does not make this momma very happy
(I am not a dog person)
When we are at Nana and Pappi's house you will lay on the ground right next to Sophia
nestle your little head into her
You will also chase her
Anytime you see a big dog, you bark
and then laugh if they start running or doing tricks

Mr. Independence:
You know what you want.
You will turn on the DVD player if we are not watching what you want
You will open the fridge when you want your milk.
You love chocolate milk and watch to make sure I pour the chocolate in it.
Food....if it is something you do not want, you spit it out and make this really funny noise.
(it is hard to discipline and not laugh at this)
Brushing your teeth has to be all you, no need for Momma's help!

Snuggling:
My little one, this momma's heart is so happy.
Sometimes when  you have worn yourself out, you will climb up me and just want to snuggle.
I love these times.
They are so precious and do not happen very often.
Books:
Let's Go - A Book that has all items that go; cars, buses, trucks, airplanes
Lightening McQueen - A book centered around the Cars 2 book;it also makes noise
David and Goliath
Tails - A book around all different tails from animals

Water:
Nash you are in love with water in your face
You will go up to any fountain and stick your face in it and try to drink the water
Your favorite thing is for us to get a hose out and spray it so you can run right into it
In the pool, I think you try to drink the entire pool
You have started to lay on your stomach and kick your feet on the baja step

Slides:
You will climb up to the top of any slide
without any fear
and majority of the time you will come down them head first

Sleep:
You are a good sleeper
Take one nap a day around 12 and sleep from 1.5 to 2 hours
You go to bed around 7:45 and get up around 6 in the morning.
Still sleep with two empty bottles...I have not gotten up the guts to get rid of them yet

You have become a bundle of personality and your Daddy and I are loving every minute of it.
