That time of year

Well, it is that time of year again......the time where we pack up all of our stuff and head to a new city for the baseball. At least this time, we are close to home and both of our families are coming out to visit us.

We leave on Monday morning at 4:30 am to drive to Goodyear, AZ for spring training. But in the meanwhile here is us trying to pack all of our stuff up.

Zip Lining

Now this was my kind of adventure and for all you Bachelorette Fans.....your going to love it.

We went zip lining and it just happened to be the exact same course that Gillian and Kipton went on in the previous Bachelorette. Chris was so embarrassed that I was more impressed about the show than I was about the actual zip lining. Every chance I got I would ask our instructor about details of how the show worked and if they were allowed to talk while they were not filming. So interesting.

Anyways, back to the adventure. The group crossed this really high and wobbly bridge, then we had to carry our trolleys. Chris carried mine for me and I was very thankful for that.

Once we got to the lift the excitement began.

Whale Watching

The second excursion that we did involving the ocean was Whale Watching. At least this time, I was in a boat and not in the water. It is mating season for the whales here in Hawaii and they were out in force. It was unbelievable to see how many there were.

The one security I had was that the boat could not approach the whales with in a 100 yards. However, I did not realize that that the whales had no restrictions. I am pretty sure the whales knew I was on the boat and thought they would play a little trick on me.

Chris was looking over the side of the boat and saw this huge shadowy monster under the boat. The captain pointed out that it was a whale and it would be surfacing right next to the boat. I started praying and letting God know that I did not want to be the next Jonah.

Sure enough, that whale surfaced with in 10 yards of the boat, gave a little slap and tail wave. After that appearance, I tended to stay in the middle of the boat and enjoy looking at the whales from afar. In all, the trip was a lot of fun. It was so intriguing to see these mammals living in their natural habitat. Below is a short tid bit of what we saw.

Me and the Ocean

We have a funny relationship. Actually, it is not a relationship at all. I hate the ocean and it likes to taunt me. There are two stories about the ocean from this vacation and I only have pictures of the second one.

Snorkeling

I have never been snorkeling before and my husband thought it would be the perfect time to take me out. So we walked over to Kapalua Bay and rented the snorkel gear for an hour.

Now, I am a human being that breathes through my nose, so when Chris explained to me that I had to breathe through the snorkel with my mouth.....well....let's just say I started hyperventilating (through my nose with the snorkel on...not a pretty sight). Eventually, I calmed down and we walked into the dreaded ocean.

The water was at my ankles and I was battling with the sand and my flippers. Not only do I hate the ocean, I hate everything that is part of the ocean...including the sand. Once I got all the sand out of my flippers, I reluctantly followed my husband into the vast and overwhelming water. I have never been more scared in my life.

Chris kept pointing out the fish and the coral, but all I kept thinking about was the little sign at the rental place that had an eel coming out of the coral with sharp teeth and a big X through it telling you to not step on the coral. Why would they put that sign on there? I was already paranoid. As my mind was thinking about the eel picture, I saw Chris's finger out of the corner of my eye and there it was.....a huge puffer fish!!! That was it, I was out of there. I turned around and swam as fast as I could back to the beach. My poor husband didn't know what was happening, he was just chasing after me and trying to keep me from running into the coral.

Needless to say, I lasted a total of 10 minutes which was honestly 9 minutes longer than I expected.

Dinner last night was at The Plantation House. This club hosts the SBS Championship golf tournament. In fact, the tournament was the weekend before we came so the course was in pristine shape.

Now Chris is a huge fan of golf.....I mean HUGE. He did not bring his clubs to Hawaii so that he would not be tempted to play. However, taking him to this gorgeous course did not make him feel good about his decision. (I really appreciated that he did not bring them so that we spent all our time together....but I am being selfish)

We had a wonderful table that gave us an amazing view.

Chris was able to watch the golfers come down on the 18th hole. (and Shank balls all over the place)

I enjoyed a strawberry daiquiri

Then we enjoyed the sunset.....the buildings that you can hardly see on the left is our Hotel.

My Lifesaver

This little thing has been my lifesaver. Well both things in the picture have been my lifesaver.

My Prince's Fair Maiden is truly a FAIR Maiden and burnt her back in random spots on the first day

He felt so bad that he laid around the land ashamed.

Totally joking about the ashamed part....however I am burnt and my lovely husband went to the store and purchased some aloe for me. Today we are off to watch the Whales! It is mating season for them so they are here in the hundreds.

Pictures and Dinner

Last night we ate dinner at the most recommended Sushi place on this island. I cannot tell you how many people told us we had to come eat at Sansei. Luckily it was only a block from our hotel so we were able to walk there. It did not disappoint.

Now I am not a Sushi person. In fact I almost despise it, but my Husband loves it so I go for him. He ordered a Caterpillar Roll and this is what the Sushi chef delivered. Now can you tell me if you would have eaten it. It was little scary.

We also ordered some other rolls that I actually liked.

After dinner, we stopped by the little general store and picked up some things for our kitchen. How cute is this place?

First Day of Adeventure

We started the morning off with some quiet time out on our balcony. I am currently doing Beth Moore's bible study Esther and I am really enjoying it.

After our morning quiet time, we went and had a great workout at the gym and then off to the spa to get a couples massage. Oh the relaxation that brought to our much needed bodies. One of the perks of going to the spa, was that we were able to use their amenities for the entire day. So of course after the activities of the day we went back and used the sauna and steamroom.

Once the spa was over, we headed outside to enjoy the pool and the views.

While laying out we decided to take a hike out to the rocky point. It was really neat. We kind of felt like we were on survivor with how the water was splashing up high against the waves.

I have to finish the rest of the post tonight, my hubby is bugging me to go on a run with him.

Aloha

We have made it to Hawaii!!!!

After a 14 hour travel day and one terrible flight that was 7 hours long, we arrived in paradise. The front desk was able to upgrade our room and provided us this "little" room. AMAZING!!

We have two balconies that over look the mountains with a partial ocean view. A living room, kitchen with a dining table with six chairs, a bedroom with a king bed and a large bathroom with a huge soaking tub. So Everyone, we are here. Tomorrow we are planning on getting a couples massage and chilling by the pool. See you in the evening.

UCLA Alumni

My Husband was able to finally graduate from college this past semester. Chris went back to UCLA and graduated with an Applied Mathematics degree with an emphasis in Computing. It has been five years since he left UCLA to pursue his baseball dream. Due to marriage, baseball, and surgeries Chris was not able to finish as fast as we would like to. But he did it! He is now an official UCLA Alumni.

Chris's parents threw him a little graduation get together last night. It was a lot of fun.

Obviously it was UCLA themed.
