Baby Nash is 5 months old

Munchkin you are 5 months old.
And I am loving every minute of it.
You are becoming your own person
and you have your Daddy and I wrapped up in your goodness.

Weight: 17 lbs 8 oz
Height:?

 - You wear 9 month onsies, size 6-12 month clothing (some of it is starting to get too tight), PJs are 9-12 months.  Diapers we are in size three and pretty sure we will be in these for a little bit. Yesterday I put away some of your clothes that you have grown out of and just cannot believe you were ever that little.  It just seems like you are growing too fast and I want to keep little forever.
- Sleep: You go to bed between 7 to 7:30 and wake up around 5 am to eat and then you will go right back to sleep until about 8. You are a very active sleeper.  Sometimes we will hear you laugh in your sleep and other times you will cry out in your sleep.  When we go in and check on you, your little mouth is always moving with a smile or a frown and your little eyebrows move around like you are thinking really hard. I would just love to find out what you are dreaming about. Our night time routine is, you eat and then we change your diaper.  Daddy turns your turtle night lite on and I will swaddle the bottom half of you.  We cover you in Nana's blanket and then Daddy and I will pray with you.  If you are really upset, I will sing "Jesus Loves Me" with you and sometimes calms you down.  Other times we just have to let you cry.  Most of the time we do not have to go back in and you will fall asleep within 15- 20 minutes.

- Eating: Bottle - You eat about 6.5oz of a bottle each time we give you a bottle.  You get 5 bottles a day and are still on Soy Formula.  It is really interesting now, because you recognize your bottle and those little lips and tongue get going when you see it.  Then when we put the bottle in your mouth you will hold onto the bottle. When we stop feeding you, to burp you, you get really up set and start crying hysterically. Sometimes we are not able to get a burp out of you. You are becoming such a little boy and not a baby anymore.
Solids - We started solids last month and you are loving your food.  In the morning you will have two tablespoons (dried)  of rice cereal mixed with a fruit (peaches, bananas, pears or apples), lunch you will have a green (peas or green beans) and for dinner you will have an orange (sweet potatoes).  You like to help us feed you.  When we have the spoon ready to bring to your mouth you will reach out your chubby hand and grasp the spoon and bring it to your mouth. Then when the food touches your lips you make this "Mmmmmmmm" sound.  Daddy and I just die of laughter.  You are your Daddy's son with loving every bite of food. We have discovered that carrots make you break out in a rash so we are not eating those at this moment. We are going to start giving you real food and mush it like crazy so that you get use to the texture of food.  Auntie Divo has given us some suggestions to try that she did with your cousins Leyton and Joella.  We will see how that goes.
- Noises - You are a talker.  That is your Momma in you.  You talk all the time.  To your lion on your car seat, to the hippo in your jump jump and the frog on your stroller.  When Daddy and I look you in your eyes, you will laugh and then start talking to us.  The best is when I am on conference calls and you are around, you think the people on the phone are talking to you, so you will squeal out of delight and start talking back.  You love to talk when Momma is on the phone.  I will put Noni on speakerphone while we talk and you will just start jabbering away.  Noni will say "Naaasssshhhh" and you will squeal and laugh.  Daddy and I are trying to have you copy sounds we make......and you have perfected the "MMMMMMMMM" sound but you will not continue it to Mama.  One more thing you love to do, sing.  We will put music on while you are eating or in the bath tub and you will start talking to the music and Daddy will start dancing and you will squeal out of happiness. Oh and coughing.  You had a little cold the past few weeks and you discovered that you can cough.  Well now you like the sound of coughing and will just start to do a fake cough. Smart little cookie.

- Nasherson you love your hands.  They are your comfort at this moment.  You will chew on your fingers and suck on the sides of your hands. Sometime both at the same time, you are talented like that. In the middle of the night, if you wake up, we will hear you over the munchkin alarm sucking away and eventually you will put yourself back to sleep.

- Tummy time is getting much better.  You will play on your tummy now for about 25 minutes and then you will get frustrated.  The other day your Daddy was playing with you on the floor while you were having tummy time and he was dangling a toy above your head. Those brown hazel eyes followed the toy all the way until you rolled over on your back by yourself.  Daddy and I started jumping up and down from excitement and you just laid there and looked at us like we were crazy.  Oh the little things that excite parents.

- Toys - Today your favorite big toys are your jump jump and the activity mat.  You can spend about 45 minutes in your jump jump, and the whole time you are either jumping or talking with your hippo or lion that are attached to the jump jump.  Little toys, the lion attached to your jump jump, the hippo attached to the jump jump, the lion and frog attached to your car seat and books.  You still love to stare at fans or lights up on the ceiling. You love to play peek a boo and it makes you laugh really hard when Daddy makes faces at you during the game. Also, you love the mirror. We will have you stand on the bathroom counter and you will just dance and laugh. It is the cutest.

- Mr. Nash you have started to move your body.  When laying on your back you will lift your legs up in the air and then plop them back to the ground.  You have also mastered scooting around on your back, when we put you in your crib and then come in  in the morning you have scooted your way all the way to the other side until your head is pushing against the side. Now when you are on your tummy, you will do a seal position lifting both your legs and your head.  We are just amazed at how God is giving you the strength and knowledge every day to grow and learn.
- - Firsts: Solids - Green Beans, Apples, Pears, Carrots
Laughing
Noticing Bottle and Food
Lifting Legs in the air when on Back
Lifting legs in the air while pushing up with arms while on stomach
Flying on an airplane
Following Objects from both side
Rolling Over (even though it was only once, it counts)
- You are a very happy baby most of the time, but watch out everyone.  When you get mad, there is no calming you down unless you get a bath or a bottle. You truly only get mad when you want food or when we wake you up on accident.  It will be so nice when you get your own room:-)

Nasherson we love you so much and are in awe of the gift God has given us.
Cannot wait to see what this month brings us!
