Baby Nash is 2 Months old

2 Months
I cannot stand that you are growing so much.
Everyone says you grow every time they see you.
I just love watching you grow and watching your Daddy and I grow as parents

Sleep: Nights are getting a little easier. You are sleeping longer and longer and not as noisy as you have been. You love to be swaddled now when you sleep and sleep around 4-6 hours in the night. Your Dad still does the early feeding and I do the later in the morning feeding since I am up at 5:30 for work.

Feed: You are officially eating at least 5 oz every feeding and we are still breast feeding. I am still not eating any diary and my diet is pretty bland, to save your tummy. The doctor has prescribe stronger gas medicine and you do not like the taste of it. We also started you on baby probiotics to help your system. Spitting up continues every feeding. You still breast feed and bottle feed. Love this aspect because it enables me to have mommy time or go on a date with your Daddy.
Weight:Well little man you weigh 11lbs 11oz. That is in the 60 percentile. You are doing so well growing and gaining weight.
Length: 22 1/4 in which is in the 30 percentile. You have a long torso and very short legs. Your head is 15 cm which is in the 15 percentile.
Milestone: You had many firsts this week.
  • You had your first social smile. You smiled right at me and your Papi
  • You laughed. It was a mid-night feeding and it was just you and I. I was so tired and was almost in tears and you let out a little laugh and it just melted my heart.
You are focusing on our faces more and can recognize your Dad and I out of a crowd
  • We took out your newborn insert for the car seat. You have officially out grown all newborn items now and we have packed them away in a tub.

Funniest Moment this Week: We were visiting Noni and Gramps (my parents) in their hotel room on Saturday (they had come up to LA to get a mini-vacation). Auntie M&M was holding you and trying to get you to smile. You were so comfortable that you decided you were going to have a blowout. Micah had poo on her shirt and it had gotten on Gramps hand when he took you from her and then all over your outfit. It was extremely funny and I was laughing so hard that it was hard to start cleaning you up.

Your favorite toy: Snowman Rattle. You also love to play a game that Auntie Holly came up with. We lift your arms above your head and say "I am so Big" then we stretch them out to the sides and say "I love you this much" and then cross the arms and say "Crissy, Crossy" then put your arms down to your sides and say "Down" then we clap and yell yea. You smile really big when we do this.
Diapers: We have officially moved into size 1 diapers but not sure how long you will be in these size diapers.

Clothes: You are wearing 0-3 months and 3-6 months depending on brand. Baby Gap 3-6 months, Janie and Jack 0-3 months, Target 3 Months, Babies-R-Us 3-6 months.
Mommy Moments: I start back to work this week and I am not looking forward to not being able to spend all day with you. You grow and learn at an amazing rate and I am just in awe of how God works. I see him working in you and our lives everyday. Being a Mommy to you is wonderful and I am so excited to continue to watch you grow, even if I am covered in poo and spit up.

Generations

My Grandparents flew to my parents house over the weekend from Oklahoma. They wanted to meet their first great-grandchild. So Chris and I drove down to San Diego for the weekend and hung out with the family. We had four generations in one house. It was a lot of fun. We did puzzles, chatted, ate, shopped and celebrated a very important birthday (coming in the next post).

Before Chris and I left, we had picture time. (sorry for my appearance, we ran out of hot water and needed to leave to get to church) It was crazy trying to get all the pictures that we needed to get, but I think we succeeded!

Last but not least our little family

Just a side note: It has been tradition in the Smith Family to do puzzles on family gatherings. Gran and I have been doing puzzles for as long as I can remember. So now I am married and this was the first time Chris did a puzzle with Gran and Grandpa and I. He had a lot of learning to do. We have puzzle rules: such as the border has to be done first, then all pieces are laid out upwards, then organized by color and then you can start the puzzle. While doing the puzzle you can not place puzzle pieces on top of the already done parts and if you take a piece from the organized pieces you have to put it back in the same place. Little did he know I have become a pro at putting together puzzles; so we had a friendly competition. I will let you determine who won;)

Baby Nash is 7 Weeks Old

7 weeks
Can you please stay little? Please
You are gaining weight everyday, I actually think every feeding.
It is the most amazing thing being a Mommy and so excited to watch you grow.
Sleep: For you to go into a deep sleep you need to have a full tummy. This past week we had a couple of nights where I did produce enough milk and you did not have good night sleep. Right now you are waking up at 10:30pm, 3:00am and 7:15am. You have stopped grunting during your sleep but once you do start grunting you are on your way to waking up. I am letting you sleep on your tummy more and you are loving it. You slept in your port a crib for the first time this week.
Feed: You are officially eating at least 5 oz every feeding and we are still breast feeding. I am still not eating any diary and my diet is pretty bland, to save your tummy. You continue to take the gas and lactate drops, but hopefully you will be able to stop these next month. Spitting up continues every feeding. I am truly not enjoying this aspect and hoping it goes away soon. You still breast feed and bottle feed. This is a huge grace because your Dad gets to feed you and I am so thankful for that.
Weight:You have to be almost 10 lbs because you are so heavy to carry around. I have started using the Mobi this week and you seem to really like it.
Length: I think you have grown because we are starting to fit 3 M bottoms.
Milestone: You had many firsts this week.
  • You slept in your own bed this week. Of course it was only for naps
  • Slept on your tummy for naps
  • Focused on toys for a whole minute and even followed your hippo with your eyes

  • Funniest Moment this Week: All the accidents that have occurred. Refer to the previous post.
Your favorite toy: You love this snowman rattle and a hippo that goes on top of your car seat. You have started to notice yourself in your mirror on the activity mat. You just stare in the mirror. I love this.
Diapers: We have officially moved into size 1 diapers and you are wearing 0-3 month clothing.
Mommy Moments: I never knew how hard motherhood would be from the very beginning. I look at him and just cannot believe he is mine. To watch him grow and learn is the most amazing feeling. Never in a million years would I think I would not care about spit up on my clothes or not being able to take a shower every morning. The love that you have for your little one is outstanding and I just love the little guy so much.

Styling Mom....Not so much

The last 24 hours have given me a new meaning to style. I officially smell more of spit up then I do of my Vanilla Lotion. My clothes have spit up or poo all over them and I still wear them out (not proud of this but right now it is survival mode) Doing my hair and make up is my last priority and my legs received a visit from my razor for the first time in 10 days.

Lets give you a run down of the past 24 hours.
  • 24 hours ago, I was giving Nash his feeding. He had just finished the feeding and we were reading books in his room. Well...I was reading and he was sitting there listening, I think. All of the sudden he felt really warm to me. Then the warm sensation started to trickle down my leg. I lift Nash up off of my lap and what do my eyes see. POO! And not just a little, I mean a lot. Seriously, did the diaper not catch any of it. I scream for Chris to come help me, because I was sitting on the chair my parents lent us and did not want to return it stained with Nash's poo. So the clean up process started. Chris took Nash, holding him as far from him as he could, to the changing table. I hobbled to the laundry room and ripped my pants off and got some new sweats. The rest is just how you would expect. Both of us freaking out. Trying to figure out what to do with the poo stained clothes, while dealing with a very calm baby on the table that had poo all the way to his neck. His look was of "what is your guys problem, my tummy feels much better and I am not screaming".
  • 18 hours ago I was making dinner for myself(it was fend for yourself night...proud mom?). I had put Nash on his tummy on the activity matt in the kitchen. I look over and he had spit up and then proceeded to lay his head in the spit up. It would have been nice if the spit up was just liquid but it was not. It was from the pit of his stomach milk curdled spit up. It was in his hair, ears, neck, face and mouth. Oh so gross. I picked him up, then decided I needed to eat so I finished making my sandwich while holding my spit up boy. At this point I decided I was going to multi-task. I asked Chris to put his bathtub in our tub and I was going to bath him in our tub while I was eating my sandwich. I mean in my gymnastics days I would multi-task taking a bath, while eating dinner and doing homework, this should be doable right. Oh was I mistaken. We got in the bath and everything was going great until our little Nasherson decided he was going to poo in his bath. Not again. Another poo thing seriously. So I in turn quickly picked him up out of his bath. Dunked him in my bath and Chris took care of his little tub. Not even 5 minutes later he pooped in my bath. Great. Here I am sitting in poopy water in my tub while holding him. Not exactly how I thought this event would go.
  • 6 hours ago Another poopy mess. I would love to have cameras in our house when this happens. Nash was sitting in his bouncy seat and Chris and I are on the couch. We hear this big toot and we looked at each other and just knew. Another blow out. I got to check, sure enough up out of his pants on his bouncy seat. And the routine continues.
(right before his explosion)

Needless to say, I guess it is a blessing that I have not bought new clothes or that I cannot fit into my nice clothes. I do not want them to fall victim to Mr. Nash just yet.

Speaking of fitting into clothes. I have officially lost over half of my pregnancy weight. Only 13 more pounds to go. However, it is funny how my brain works. I thought looking at what my body was going through during pregnancy was hard, the after math is even worse. It is my biggest struggle and my mom and I were talking about it the other day. I want to lose this weight so bad and be back to pre pregnancy by spring training so that I do not have to subject all those people to this body. But in all reality, what my body is going through is the real reality and I have to keep reminding myself of Psalm 139:14. I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

In a conversation that I was having with my friend Annie (if you have not read her blog you have to....she has two adorable little girls and is one of the best writers I have ever met) about the struggles of motherhood and everything that my brain is thinking of; she explained to me that it is about your little one and you sacrifice for that one just as Christ has for us. So I need to eat more hamburgers and french fries and not worry about the cottage cheese that seems to be lingering on my legs or the stomach that looks like jello and is just lost on my body right now. Go with my gut and do what I know is best for my little guy. I am the one who knows him best. And if he is sleeping with us now, I am pretty sure that will wear off by college:)
