Chris and I had the privilege of being able to hear Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar speak at Church last night. If you are not familiar with the Duggar Family, they have a show on TLC called "19 kids and Counting".
Honestly, I had to drag my husband to go with me. He is not the biggest fan of the show, but he tolerates it. Chris kept saying why did you buy tickets (they were $5) up in the balcony, we are going to be the only ones there. We had a huge surprise when we arrived and there were another 5,000 people there to hear them also(Our church seats 18,000)! Needless to say we were not the only ones.
Now, I know a lot people disagree with the Duggars and how many kids they have and their lifestyle. I have to say that I would not personally choose some of the things that they have chosen for their family but they do have a great family foundation and truly walk what they believe.
Chris and I both thoroughly enjoyed hearing them speak. 16 of their 19 kids were there. The Family opened up the 2 hours with singing and the kids performed some of their favorite songs. (This was a lot of fun for me because they were songs that my mom use to sing with Hunter and I on road trips or just around the house).
Then Michelle and Jim Bob spoke for about 45 minutes. They opened up by saying the are not professional parents and they do not have all the answers and parenthood is an ever learning process. Then continued to discuss their life and how God has worked in their lives. They discussed some hard questions that viewers always ask them. It was a wonderful to hear. As soon to be parents, Chris and I were all ears. My husband even liked it and said that he really admired their faith and has a great respect for being able to keep their faith strong and walking the walk.
At the end, our pastor came out and did a little interview with them. Then we finished by praying for them.
In the end, it was a great night and Chris and I came out of it starting to really think about parenthood. We are beyond words excited for the gift that God has given us and just pray that we can raise him to grow up and be a Man of God and love the Lord.

i absolutely ADORE the duggars! what i admire most about them is that they are so steadfast in their faith & love for the Lord. and they don't compromise their beliefs for anything or anyone -- that's truly admirable.
19 kids might not be for everyone, but for them, it works. and as much as people don't agree with them & their lifestyle, they are totally self-sufficient. they aren't mooching off the government. jim bob & michelle have planned accordingly & have provided a great life for their family. that's what good parents do.
I ran across your blog from The Lutz's! I am assuming you go to Southeast, because that is where the Duggars were the other night?! We got there too!! What an awesome week full of mainstream personalities sharing their love for the Lord!!! Love reading all about your baby!
That's great that you had the opportunity to hear them and that they really excited and inspired you!
Love the Duggars! And, wait, I thought you weren't in the 'Ville anymore???? Am I wrong?!
