Cravings at a Baseball Game

For the women out there have been pregnant....I am not sure this has happened to you but while being pregnant if I start to crave something it does not leave my mind until either 1) I get what I am craving or 2) I start craving something else.

Well.....A craving came about at one of Chris's baseball game. There was a birthday party going on behind our seats. The mom had made these amazing looking cupcakes. They were decorated as little baseballs and the cutest things ever! I was eyeing them all game and once they passed them out to the mini baseball players at the game there were 5 left. I so badly wanted to go and ask her for one. But I thought it was rude and I could not bring myself to do it.

I must have kept talking about them because one of the wives', Stacey Yarbrough, dad went up to the lady and asked her if he could take one for me! He was my hero that night.....I loved every bite of it. It was brownie mix cupcake with melted chocolate chips in the batter and then the icing was homemade.

It was the best cupcake I have ever had:)

Exciting News while being pregnant

Last night I was not feeling all that great. I came home from the game early and went straight to bed. Chris walked through the door around 11:30 and found me asleep in bed. He got ready for bed and turned our phones on silent so that I would not be disturbed, and went out in the living room to watch some tv.

Around 1 am, Chris finally made his way to bed. But before he climbed into bed he checked the phones to see if anyone had called. We had 8 MISSED calls.....several on my phone and a bunch on his. They were from his coach (Skipper, Manager.....whatever you call them in Pro Ball). We were heading to Louisville!!

There went my quiet night and catching up on sleep. I was wide awake. The lights flipped on, lists were made, and packing began.

What were we going to do? We had two cars, I am pregnant, Chris has to be in Louisville by tomorrow evening, I am flying out to CA in a week for my brother's College Graduation tickets were already bought, I have a doctors appointment on the 16th and Chris's parents had just bought tickets this morning to come see us in Raleigh in about a Month.

Chris called to see if he could drive his truck up to Louisville and he could!! One thing off the worry list.

Now what did he need for the next three weeks. An air mattress, clothes, all his baseball stuff, medicine, toiletries, sheets, pillow, blanket, coffee maker, coffee beans and anything else we could fit in his truck.

Plans were made fast. I would stay behind, hire movers, get out of our lease, call a new apartment (luckily I had one already set up from spring training), call the Internet people to cancel, and call our parents.

Normally, I pack everything myself, we hire movers to load it up and our parents come out and help us drive the moving truck to its new destination. This time it is different. I am PREGNANT!!! That means no heavy lifting. Luckily, we did not unpack very many things and most of the heavy stuff is all packed up. But Chris and I are going to have to hire movers for the whole process this time. I guess it is a perk of being pregnant, not having to deal with the move, just hurts the pockets a little bit.

About 2:30 am we finally hit the sack. We laid in bed and prayed. Prayed for safety, prayed for strength, prayed for wisdom, and prayed God will continue to bless our house. Chris fell asleep right away, me on the other hand was up just thinking about everything that is going to happen in the next month. I am not sure I got any sleep. The alarm went off around 7 and Chris got up. I followed slowly behind him. We packed his truck up and off he went. I walked back up the three flight of stairs, waved to Chris from the window and then looked at my apartment. It was a mess. And the tears just started to pour down my face. Most likely because of pregnancy hormones but my husband was leaving and I would not see him for three weeks.

These are the rough moments in Baseball.

Boxes are in the middle of the room

Tubs are dumbed out

Clothes all over the floor

And a refrigerator full of food.
(It is Watermelon season....look at all that fresh Watermelon)
These are the times it is really hard to live on the other side of the country from family. But it is nice to have them willing to fly out and help! Hopefully, these three weeks will fly by. Good Luck my Love!!!! See you in the 'ville soon:)

God's Precious Gift - We're Pregnant

I have dreamt about this day for the past two years.

The day where Chris and I get to share the news that we are expecting, with our friends and family and all the amazing people that have been praying for us. I am 9 weeks and 1 day along and due on Christmas Eve!!!! What an amazing miracle and huge blessing to our family.

Please read our story below.

Chris and I decided we would start trying June of 2008. (For those of you who truly know us, I had been trying to convince Chris for over a year to start trying but he was just not ready yet.) I knew I was going to have trouble getting pregnant, because I am not regular and have had cysts on my ovaries for as long as I can remember.

We started seeing a specialist in Chattanooga and they diagnosed me with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). In short, it means I have cysts all over my ovaries (my ovaries look like swiss cheese) and I do not ovulate on a regular basis if at all. The doctor put me on Metformin and off we went. No luck with Metformin. I was still not ovulating. Chris and I decided we would go through the 2009 baseball season without doing anything more and just see if we got pregnant. It didn't happen.

August of 2009, Chris and I knew we would be spending the off season in CA, so I flew out to LA to see my doctor out there. He started me on Chlomid. I prayed this would work. And it didn't. After the first month, he suggested that Chris and I go see an Infertility Specialist because he knew we only had about 5 months of being in CA.

Off we went to the next doctor; Dr. Kumar. I will never forget our consultation with Dr. Kumar. Chris and I were sitting in his office and Dr. Kumar was explaining all of our options and what he suggested and the whole time he was talking I kept thinking....is he speaking english? There were all these terms being thrown around IUI, IVF, shots, ultrasounds, PCOS, it was too overwhelming. After he was done, I started to tear up in his office. Dr. Kumar sat back and started over again, slower this time and drawing my ovaries and uterus and what the procedures would do. I felt a little better. We left his office that first day and decided that we would do three rounds of IUI; one with chlomid, two with the shots of follistim.

Months of ultrasounds, counting the follicles, shots in the stomach, gaining 10 pounds and IUI's for negative results; we were not pregnant. The emotional roller coaster that you go through during this process is unbearable. Chris and I had to lean on God, pray that he would get us through this time.

Our last IUI was in January 2010. Chris and I went to Hawaii for vacation, while we were there we found out that it did not work. We were out of time. In two weeks, we were leaving for Spring Training. It was over.

February 2010 Dr. Kumar called and asked if we wanted to be part of an IVF Trial. We would only have to pay half the amount....We were in. However, it sounded to good to be true. The logistics were just not working...we were in AZ and the trial was in LA. I prayed about it and I just knew it was not what God wanted for me. So we withdrew.

The struggle of not getting pregnant brought Chris and I to our knees. We cried out to the Lord literally. We were vulnerable to God and to each other. We gave it to God and decided to stop trying until next off season.

Jump to four weeks ago. Chris is on a 10 day road trip. I become really sick over the weekend. Nothing is feeling right. Chris suggests I am pregnant...my response "We are not going through that again." So I did not take a test. A couple of nights later I go out to dinner with a friend and we go to Chili's. I order my staple...chips and salsa and queso. The salsa was so spicy I could not eat it and the queso made me sick to my stomach. At that moment I knew I was pregnant. That night I drove to Walgreens and bought a test. Waited for Chris to get out of his game, of course there was a rain delay and extra innings. Finally, Chris calls at 12:35 am and I told him about the events that night and suggested we take the test. He said "Ok lets do it".

I peed on the stick and two lines appeared. I started crying and screaming and poor Chris....he was on the team bus driving from Jacksonville to Mobile and just wanted to cry with me. It was the best night of our lives. A complete shock and God moment.

We called our parents and told close relatives. Made a doctors appointment for when Chris got home.

Today was the second doctors appointment. We were able to hear the heartbeat and see the little gummy bear for the second time.
We want to thank everyone for all your prayers and encouragement. We will appreciate them and treasure them forever!

Praise God! "I have prayed for this child and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him" 1 Samuel 1:27.

Rain Out

Rain Out means dinner with my Husband!

Around 4:30 yesterday afternoon I receive a text from my husband "Game Cancelled.....want to go to Flying Biscuit"........my reply "YES!!!!!!!"

There was excitement for two reasons: a whole night with my husband and dinner at one of my favorite restaurant's The Flying Biscuit.
I slip on my rain boots and grab my umbrella and off we drove into the rain. I love RAIN! We arrive at the restaurant and Chris suggests we sit outside. What a great husband, I have.

I order hot chocolate...not that it was cold outside but I wanted to pretend, Chris orders coffee. The waitress brings out the warm biscuits with the apple cinnamon jelly, ohh how delish and we indulge.

For me there was no need to look through the menu, but on the other side of the table it was a different story. Chris could not decide what he wanted. He knew what he wanted but could not find it on the menu. Finally, he mixed and matched and we order.

As we wait for our food, we sit, talk about the future, listen to the rain and drink our warm drinks. It was amazing....we were not rushed to get to the field or get home so we could go to bed and sleep. We just sat there and talked and enjoyed.

Our food came and it was melt in your mouth delicious. I ordered the Flying Egg Benedict on a whole wheat english muffin, turkey bacon and fruit. Chris ordered eggs over easy, potatoes and a small stack of pancakes.

We ate and enjoyed. It was perfect.
